FORECLOSURE PETS ABANDONED
Household pets — not just distressed homeowners — are
being forced to relocate
Unfortunately, many of the pets such as cats and dogs are being
surrendered to local animal shelters, or worse, simply being left behind
to fend for themselves.
The report indicates that efforts are currently
underway through grant dollars to help distressed homeowners place their
pets with new families. This awareness initiative will hopefully reduce
the number of foreclosure pets that are abandoned and therefore
susceptible to starvation, disease or predators.
In addition, the Humane Society of the United States
is also apparently getting in on the action, recently “offering grants for
shelters or rescue groups caring for this new category of abandoned
animals.”

Please help, I read
about pets left in abandoned homes and found starved to death because they
were locked inside without food and/or water. They are innocent victims
and need all the help we can give them. I recently adopted an additional
kitty even though I have already 6 beautiful cats, but I just couldn't say
no. Personally, I don't understand how people can leave their beloved pets
alone and hope that some of you will take the time to check out the
websites above and help these poor animals.

Milk for the Cat

When the tea is brought at five o'clock,
And all the neat curtains are drawn with care,
The little black cat with bright green eyes
Is suddenly purring there.
At first she pretends, having nothing to do,
She has come in merely to blink by the grate,
But, though tea may be late or the milk may be sour,
She is never late.
And presently her agate eyes
Take a soft large milky haze,
And her independent casual glance
Becomes a stiff, hard gaze.
Then she stamps her claws or lifts her ears,
Or twists her tail and begins to stir,
Till suddenly all her lithe body becomes
One breathing, trembling purr.
The children eat and wriggle and laugh;
The two old ladies stroke their silk:
But the cat is grown small and thin with desire,
Transformed to a creeping lust for milk.
The white saucer like some full moon descends
At last from the clouds of the table above;
She sighs and dreams and thrills and glows,
Transfigured with love.
She nestles over the shining rim,
Buries her chin in the creamy sea;
Her tail hangs loose; each drowsy paw
Is doubled under each bending knee.
A long, dim ecstasy holds her life;
Her world is an infinite shapeless white,
Till her tongue has curled the last holy drop,
Then she sinks back into the night,
Draws and dips her body to heap
Her sleepy nerves in the great arm-chair,
Lies defeated and buried deep
Three or four hours unconscious there.

Oh dear!
Do you think our hats
will impress the Queen???

Where is the pool?

Don't worry - it's a toy.

For Doggie
Doggy My Sweet Doggy
I’m so glad you’re not a froggy.
They feel slippery and yukky
And act nothing like a puppy.
With just one shot of froggy breath
A flying bug falls to his death.
I hear there is a Prince inside
Who needs my kiss to come alive.

The Prince would quickly ride away
But by my side you’ll always stay.

Hunting Lesson # 1 - Birds
They can fly out of tall trees;
WE CAN'T!
I am Cat!
Cat does NOT belong in carrier.
Expensive furniture is
just sooooo beautiful...
Good taste is easy to recognize

Get me OUT OF HERE!!!

Honey, Baby, Sweety,
I'm the Director- that's why! |

Absolutely
Purr-fect Love
Was it a marvelous stroke
of fate
That brought you to my
front door?
Or did you know that I
would be charmed
And you would be
quickly adored?
Your pleading, tiny kitten
meow
Went straight from my ears
to my heart.
Now you obviously rule this
place
As you expected right from
the start.
Independent is your middle
name
You’ll be petted just when
you please.
But when you’re in the mood
for my love
You are not easily
appeased.
Generously, you bring home
fine gifts
Hunting trophies for me to
see.
The frog you dropped in my
packed suitcase
Hated to fly so I set him
free.
Your tail is a mood
barometer
Storm warnings if full left
to right.
Straight in the air as you
prance away
When you tire of our finger
fights.
I’ve now become your human
to knead,
Soft paws massage my
morning hair.
Your furry head tucked
under my chin,
I’ve found purr love beyond
compare.

Dear Dogs and
Cats,
When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch
positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way.
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The
other dishes are mine and contain my food.
Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food
does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I
find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help
because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry
about this.
Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your
comfort. Look at videos of dogs and cats sleeping, they can actually
curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each
other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that
sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other
end to maximize space used is nothing but sarcasm.
My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom.
If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut,
it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob, or get
your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit
through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using the
bathroom for years- canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
To pacify you I have posted the following message on our front
door.....
Rules for Non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our
pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the
furniture.
3. I like my pet better than I like most people.
4. To you it's an animal. To me he/she is an adopted son/daughter who
is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for
money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called,
never drive your car, don't hang out with drug using friends, don't
drink or smoke, don't worry about buying the latest fashions, don't
wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and if
they get pregnant, you can sell the results. |

Easter Bunny
(by Mary
Brandolino)
In memory of all
the bunnies we
couldn't save.

I remember
Easter Sunday
It was colorful
and fun
The new life
that I'd begun
In my new cage.
I was just a
little thing
When they
brought me from
the store
And they put me
on the floor
In my cage.
They would take
me out to play
Love and pet me
all the time
Then at day's
end I would
climb
In my cage.
But as days and
weeks went by
I saw less of
them it seemed
Of their loving
touch I dreamed
In my cage.
In the night
outside their
house
I felt sad and
so neglected
Often scared and
unprotected
In my cage.
In the dry or
rainy weather
Sometimes hotter
sometimes colder
I just sat there
growing older
In my cage.
The cat and dog
raced by me
Playing with
each other only
While I sat
there feeling
lonely
In my cage.
Upon the fresh
green grass
Children skipped
and laughed all
day
I could only
watch them play
From my cage.
They used to
take me out
And let me
scamper in the
sun
I no longer get
to run
In my cage.
Once a cute and
cuddly bunny
Like a little
ball of cotton
Now I'm grown up
and forgotten
In my cage.
I don't know
what went wrong
At the home I
did inhabit
I just grew to
be a rabbit
In my cage.
But they've
brought me to
the pound
I was once loved
and enjoyed
Now I wait to be
destroyed
In my cage.
